Tanzania

GPS co-ordinates only included for those not found in Tracks 4 Africa.

Bukoba: Kiroyera Campsite

A nice location by the lake but smelly basic ablutions. A necessary stopover, but wouldn’t rush back.

Mwanza: Yacht Club

A nice spot by the lake. Basic ablutions. Hotel Tilapia next door is very nice for wifi, food and (if you want to pay) use of their pool.

Serengetti:

Serengetti Stop Over, (just outside the Ndabaka gate of the Western Corridor)

Nice open grassy area for camping. Fairly basic but clean ablutions. Great location right near the gate.

Seronera, Mutukuli Camp

One of the public campsites. Great to be in the park and we were impressed with the facilities available (eg, flush loos).

Ngorongoro Conservation Area: Simba A

The only public campsite so can get busy. Nice location, grassy area for camping, very basic ablutions.

Arusha: Masarani Snake Park

Popular with overland trucks. Reasonable ablutions, nice helpful owners. Being able to walk around the Snake Park and Masaai Museum was an added bonus.

Moshi: Honey Badger Lodge

They no longer offer camping, so we got a basic room. However we found out afterwards that there is a camping spot around the corner.

Tanga/Pangani: Peponi Beach Lodge

Fantastic camp on the coast. Individual shelters with electricity available for each camping spot. Nice clean facilities.

Zanzibar, Stone Town: Garden Lodge http://www.zanzibarhotelgroup.com/zanzibar-garden-lodge-hotel.html

Clean rooms and good price for the location.

Zanzibar, Kendwa: Sunset Bungalows http://www.sunsetkendwa.com/

Nice resort in a great location.

Bagamoyo: Travellers’ Lodge

Decent place but expensive for what it is. Better than heading into Dar.

Mikumi: Tan-Swiss

Great spot just outside Mikumi National Park. Nice facilities.

Iringa: Old Farm House (Kisolanza Farm)

Nice location and reasonable facilities. Unfortunately when we were there it was raining so we didn’t get the most of the extensive grounds and the meat/veg supplies we’d heard so much about had been cleared out.

Tukuyu: Landmark Hotel

Very handy for the border crossing. We took a room so we could get away early and it was clean and reasonably priced.
