Jinja: Nile River Explorers Camp

Great location by the Nile, really good facilities and very helpful manager. Popular with overland trucks so can get noisy though.

Kampala: Red Chilli

The area for overlanders isn’t great, but we thought this place was fine for a night or two. Handy for getting into the city. Others told us they preferred the Backpackers on the other side of the city.

Kibale Forest National Park: Kanyanchu River Camp

A fantastic location in the park with monkeys all around. Basic facilities, but the staff will organise a hot shower and firewood for you. Felt like we were wild camping.

Queen Elizabeth National Park: Queen Elizabeth Safari Camp (just outside the park in the North East)

A fantastic location overlooking the park. Good clean facilities and very friendly staff.

Ruhija (Bwindi Impenetrable Forest): Ruhija Community Camp

Small place, with basic shower and squat loo, but it’s a nice little set up and the staff are very helpful.

Lake Bunyonyi: Bunyonyi Overlanders Camp

Large complex, but lovely spot by the lake. Hot showers and clean ablutions. Food takes a long time.

Masaka: Backpackers Masaka

Pretty basic, but it has nice grassy grounds and the staff are very helpful.
